Office of Regional Medical Education - Austin, TX
John C. Luk, M.D., FAAP, Assistant Dean for Regional Medical Education, Pediatric Hospitalist at the Children’s Hospital of Austin, Clinical Assistant Professor in the UTMB Department of Pediatrics, and Director for the UTMB School of Medicine Pediatrics Clerkship in Austin. As Assistant Dean for Regional Medical Education in Austin, Dr. Luk collaborates with the Associate Dean for Regional Medical Education encouraging the broad educational experience of medical students in Austin, stimulating collaborative curriculum development efforts between the two campuses, and enhancing the educational development of School of Medicine faculty in Austin.
Adriane Thompson, 4th year Course Coordinator. Ms. Thompson is based at Brackenridge Hospital and serves as the point of contact for all 4th year courses in Austin. Students who wish to enroll in an Austin elective or selective should contact Ms. Thompson for approval. She works with Austin course directors and coordinators to prepare students for upcoming courses, orients them upon arrival and meets their needs throughout their Austin educational experience.
Candice Russell, MS, 3rd year Clerkship Coordinator. Ms. Russell is based at Brackenridge Hospital and serves as the point of contact for all third year clerkships in Austin. She is available to assist year round Austin students as well as Galveston students who come to Austin for one or more clerkships. She works with local clerkship directors and coordinators to prepare students for upcoming clerkships, orients them upon arrival and meets their needs throughout their Austin educational experience.
Amanda Feighner, Administrative Manager. Ms. Feighner is based at Brackenridge Hospital and supports the business activities of the ORME in Austin such as annual budgets, monthly expenditures and physical inventory. She is also the point of contact for the N95 mask fit test required of all students on clinical rotations in the Seton Family of Hospitals.
