Office of Educational Affairs
Michael Ainsworth, M.D., Associate Dean for Educational Affairs, Director of Clinical Assessment and Professional Development, UTMB School of Medicine. As Associate Dean for Educational Affairs, Dr. Ainsworth works closely with physician educators, program coordinators and students to oversee educational opportunities resulting from partnerships between UTMB, UT-Austin, the Seton network as well as several affiliated community and international facilities.
Pam Hentschel, M.S., Senior Medical Educator. As a Senior Medical Educator in the Office of Educational Affairs, Ms. Hentschel is a Co-Director of the Rural Health Care Track and Chair of the Community-Based Education Committee. She handles affiliation agreements with hospitals where students rotate under a physician educator’s supervision during a clinical clerkship or course. As a member of the Electives Course Committee, she is available to answer student’s questions about clinical and research electives taken during the summer before Year 2 and/or those taken during Years 3 and 4.
Carol Bertsche, Senior Administrative Manager. Ms. Bertsche works with all components of Educational Affairs (Instruction Management Office, Office of Clinical Education, Office of Educational Development), assisting with business activities pertaining to human resource functions, annual budgets, monthly expenditures, payroll and physical inventory. She also coordinates the end-of-clerkship and course evaluation systems and acts as a liaison with Facilities Operation and Management.
Nancy Tovar, Administrative Manager for Educational Affairs. Ms. Tovar supports all components of Educational Affairs (Instruction Management Office, Office of Clinical Education, and Office of Educational Development), working with the Sr. Administrative Manager on issues related to human resource, purchasing, payroll and physical inventory. She also provides administrative support for the School of Medicine Curriculum Committee.
